Can you grow your list without Facebook ads?

I don’t know when it happened but somewhere along the way Facebook ads became the prevailing strategy for growing your list.

This strategy doesn’t come cheap either, the average Facebook ad quote runs about 1-2k and I’ve seen quotes as high as 25k or even more...on a single launch.

Most of my new clients come to me and want me to help with them with their Facebook ads and that’s perfectly fine with me but you don’t have to use them.

Don’t get me wrong. Facebook ads are a perfectly good list-building strategy but a lot of people don’t have the cash to start there. I know I didn’t.

You’ve probably noticed that I’m not there when you do that endless scrolling -- at least not right now.

Nevertheless, the list grows. People visit my site and I’ve been full-time in my biz for 6 years after spending less than 1k a year on it…

You might be wondering how I did it. How do I continue to grow without spending money on Facebook ads?

Have you ever taken a Buzzfeed quiz? There are a bunch of them.

In fact, it’s quizzes that turned Buzzfeed into a traffic machine, without having to invest a ton of money in advertisements or taking a single TV ad.
How does it work?

Let’s say you take a quiz and share your results on Facebook.

Your friend sees it and is bored so she decides to take the quiz and shares it too. This goes on and on and voila, we have marketing and traffic machine without anyone have to pay a dime.

I decided to talk about this because a former client of mine brushed off my “Create Your Quiz product that she bought a year ago and went ahead and decided to make hers.

Over the course of 2 days she managed to get over a thousand people to take her quiz, including me!

Quizzes are so great because they not only help grow your list but they also help promote your products and shows people what you can do but quizzes aren't for everyone. 

You need to have a purpose and a methodology that goes behind them or your quiz might be taken a lot but those won't be good leads. 

For example, if you just make up a quiz and make up categories without them having to do anything with your business, it won't actually help your business so keep that in mind too. You want to be thoughtful about your quiz.
