Here’s the deal, though! Building your brand and writing great copy is like eating a whole giant dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting...you can only eat it one bite at a time.
Today I’m going to give you 5 Brand Tips that are SUPER easy to keep and will help you get that big breakthrough success you have been looking for.
1. Tell people how and why they should hire you at least ONCE a week.
It’s amazing how long most businesses will go without even MENTIONING their offers and services. It’s easy to assume that people are just watching and waiting for you to say something and if you repeat yourself, they will get angry. Nope. Most people miss what you are saying the first, second and third time. Don’t save it for the launch.
2. Consistently show up somewhere 3-4 times a week
This is one I struggle with too. I am actually not a big business social media person. I love talking about personal things but with so many emails coming to their inbox and life in the way, it’s easy for people to forget about you. Pick a social media platform and just be around to ask questions, interact and create content. I know, I’m not excited about it either. I’m gonna be showing up in my Facebook group and my goal is to make that space fun! - Join if you haven’t yet.
3. Establish what you are “known for”
There is a moment in every brand’s life where they realize that the quickest path to success is to make it easy for people to refer you to someone else. Even a multipotentialite like me realizes that while there is a lot I can do -- people are only going to refer me for one or two things. Most people only have enough brain power to do that. Decide what you want to be “known for” this year. It doesn’t have to be the ONLY thing you do.
4. Pick a brand mascot
A brand mascot can be anything. Your dog. A celebrity. An illustration. It’s just another way to remind people who you are and have people thinking about you, even when you aren’t around. I get tagged anytime Keanu Reeves or Ryan Gosling show up anywhere by my readers. You guys are always sending me cute things for Alfred. A brand mascot is a great way to connect with your audience in a new way and help you stand out. It’s also a great way to infuse some personality into your brand and connect with people in new ways.
5. Write a powerful POV post
In Brand Bomb, I teach my students about the different ways you can differentiate yourself from other people in your market. One of my favorites is the “they do this/I do this” type of post. It’s a great way to let your customers what you are and aren’t about. These are always my most popular posts -- the ones that call out my industry on the things I don’t like.
Have you told your people what you do and don’t like about your industry? This is the time to do it. It’s a great to activate your audience and get some response from them if they’ve been quiet for a long time.
